The Story Behind Spira Travel
Siranush Piloyan — Co-Founder
For more than seventeen years, Siranush has been leading tours across her native Armenia, as well as Georgia, Egypt, and Jordan. What began on the road has grown into a lifelong career, and the road is still where she feels most at home.
Since then, she has experienced tourism from almost every angle: leading journeys, advising the Tourism Committee of Armenia’s Ministry of Economy; and designing travel experiences for government delegations, private clients, media representatives, and many travel companies. She later founded her own marketing company, where much of her work focuses on developing destinations and creating new tourism experiences.
But the road has remained her most important classroom. Years of traveling, guiding, returning to the same places, working with local communities, and watching people experience a destination for the first time have shaped the way she thinks about travel.
For Siranush, a great journey is rarely defined by how much you manage to see. It is often something much smaller that stays with you: seeing Mount Ararat for the first time, being invited to a table you hadn’t planned to sit around, or having a conversation that makes you understand a place differently.
That belief became part of the foundation of Spira Travel.
Naveen Macardell — Co-Founder
Naveen is American and trained as a chemical engineer. His professional life took him to Silicon Valley, where he led operations across five companies. Travel, meanwhile, took him almost everywhere else.
He has now visited more than 150 countries, not as part of the travel industry, but simply because he has always been curious about the world. Over the years, that curiosity changed the way he traveled. Seeing the landmarks mattered less; understanding a place mattered more. That perspective became part of Spira Travel. Siranush knows travel from inside the industry; Naveen knows it from a lifetime spent on the other side of the itinerary.
